Throughout the tour of UB's campus I asked a question about the lecture in which we sat in. My question was how does gossip and the other technical figures relate to technology used in the everyday world. I was given the answer, to create applications and programs such as microsoft. The best technilogical aspect was the earthquake simulator. I thought that this was an incredible machine to test the duribility and safety of certain building material. I never knew that UB took part in research about earthquakes. The best non-technical aspect was the chemistry section. This is because i will now have a general idea of where I will spend a substanial amount of my time next year. I also, learned what the labs will look like. This trip will greatly affect me next year. For one I will have a better idea of how to navigate the campus. Also, I now know that I should join clubs to get a better jump on graduate school. This is because clubs will get me better involved which in return shows hard-work and dedication. This trip was definately worth while. This is because it has helped me to understand how a college campus performs throughout the course of a day. Also, it has me a tiny step more prepared for my transition to UB next year.
Question: Why does the light bulb only light up to the certain point you hold it at.
Answer: The electricity will only be transferred to the point it is grounded at.
Best non-technical: The best part was going to different places for lunch.
Best Technical: The best part was the electrical department. I liked the whole demos with the electro magnetic.
After seeing how interesting electrical can be I might have to check into it. Also seeing how different clubs are in college I will definitely join up.
Yes the trip was worth it, it showed me how much more is out there that I didn’t know about.
- I asked, during the presentation with the plasma globe, how the electrons can flow through your body into the light bulb without interfering with your internal organs and components of your body.
- He told us that the electrons from the plasma globe are at such a high frequency that they travel over your skin instead of inside your body, therefore leaving your organs unaffected.
- I think the best technical aspect of the trip was when Dan Muffaleto and his partner were showing us the robots they were designing and have designed in the past. It was very high-tech and had a lot of good information involved during the presentation.
- I think that the best non-technical part of the trip was just walking around the campus and seeing just how big the school really is. It actually looks like its own small city and it was deffinitly an eye-opener.
- It could effect my future in a number of ways. For one, I am attending UB next year, and I may use that one professor as a guy to talk to if I have any questions. Also, it gave me more curiosity to the world of Electrical Engineering as well as Physics, but mostly Physics. I also will have to get used to how big the campus is, because I am used to such a small school.
Best technical aspect of the trip
The best technical part of the trip was the demos of the electro magnets and the robotics demos.
Best non-technical aspect of the trip
Was lunch because we did not do anything else that did not involve Technology.
How might this trip affect your future? This trip affected my future by giving me an idea of what clubs to join. I would like to join the robotics club and/or the Baja club.
Consider some words about - Was the trip worthwhile and why?
Yes the trip was worth while because it helped with different clubs and different engineer types.
I didn't ask any questions on our TOur of the Engineering Department at UB. So therefore i dont have any answers. My favorite technical part of the trip was with the SAE club. I think it'd be cool to build cars and off road vehicles and travel around the country to race and compete against other schools. My favorite non-technical part of the tripi was lunch. We went to burger king and it was delicious. Thats gotta be one of my favorite restaurants despite how unhealthy it is. And me and derek ate the new cookie dough pies and those were fantastic. This trip may have affected my future because i now regret not applying to UB and after i go to ECC that is where I want to go to school. I loved the atmosphere and the size of the campus. Some people try to stay away from the larger universities but i would rather go to a large one. The sports are also rising and improving. The trip was definitely worthwhile i really enjoyed myself and have realized what i hope my path will be, through the University at Buffalo and on to a successful life.

State a question you asked / State the answer given -
I didn't really ask a question so I didn't get an answer but i got
alot of useful information from the trip.
Best technical aspect of the trip-
The best technical aspect of the trip was probably the part that involved the electromagnetic magnet levitator, the electromagnetic magnet, and the plasma globe.
Best non-technical aspect of the trip -
Was probably lunch because there wasn't really anything else that wasn't technical about the trip.
How might this trip affect your future -
This trip will affect my future alot because I now saw all of the stuff involved in the engineering field so i will know what i'm up against when I go to college for engineering.
State a question you asked
- I asked Dan Muffoletto about their new robotics project. I asked him when their project needs to be done and what different things still need to be done to finish the project.
State the answer given
- He explained that they are mainly focusing on an all-terrain self driven vehicle. They need to have this done in time for their competition which is a month away. They are working out small computer bugs and finishing programming and then they will build around the components once they work properly.
Best technical aspect of the trip
- The best technical part of the trip was seeing the shakers tables. This is my third time in the earthquake building and every time I have gone in there is a different experiment set up. I am very excited with all the technology that is at UB because I am going to be able to use it.
Best non-technical aspect of the trip
- The best non-technical aspect of the trip was becoming more familiar with all the little roads and sidewalks on campus. This way when I go to school there I will not look like as much of a freshman as the other freshman.
How might this trip affect your future?
- This trip will help my college career at UB. This will help prepare me for some aspects of college. This could help me to do better in college and get more out of my education. This trip was worth while and I really enjoy the campus so the trip was even more fun.

A question that i asked on the tour was about dprming at the campus. Since my major is at the south campus but many of my electives and and a few other classes are at the north campus, i asked if i would be able to dorm at the north campus. the answer that was given to this question was that most architects will dorm at the south campus but it is possibe to dorm at the north campus. another reason why i wanted to be able to dorm at the north campus was because of the clubs and the resources that i was exposed to. i thought that the club that built the snowmobile, atv, and formula car was really cool and would be something i would like to look into and being at that campus would help me be able to fit it in my schedual. the best technicaal aspect of the trip was the computer programs that dan muffaletto showed us with his robots especially the camera that showed movement and the other one that could filter out all but one or two colors in the image. the best nontechnical aspect of the trip was being able to really get to know my way around the campus since i will be attentding it in a few months and the tour helped me get to know where to go for certain things. this trip affected my future because if i hadnt learned about some of the clubs there especially about the one mentioned, i don't think that i would have thought of looking into it. it is a great opportunity because as the student said, it is a great way to get employment opportunities. the otehr reason if will afect my future is that it helped me to realize all that the campus has to offer and helped me make my final decision on whether to dorm or not.
I didn't ask any really important question or had any questions. so i have no answers. i thought the best tequniqual part of the trip was when we got to see dan M's robot that him and his team are biulding.I thought it was really cool that they had all the engineering students teaming up so they could achieve a goal. the best non tecnologicical part of the trip was when doctor S talked about how important it was to join groups and to try research before you are in the field; this way you make yourself market able.
i thought the trip was worth while because it got us out of the classroom to see more of what it is like to be an engineer. we got to see many interesting things and learned that if you put effort in you can go far.
